Our Approach

LHM’s approach is to work through existing church leadership to undergird its efforts. Local initiative and ownership of projects is our goal.  We strive to increase sustainability and decrease dependency.

Haiti is blessed by a wealth of Christian leaders who are highly committed to sharing the Gospel with their fellow countrymen and working together with them to improve both their physical and spiritual lives.  They have vision and energy, but not always the resources needed to make their visions a reality. Living Hope Mission comes alongside such leaders to make their work a bit easier and their efforts more effective.

We join with them in providing resources for:

  • Churches/Schools
  • Educational Opportunities/Scholarships
  • Clean Water
  • Micro Loans
  • Agricultural Resources

Pastor Payot Jacques

Wilbert and Pastor Payot

Redeemed Baptist Church of Caracol

When we met Pastor Payot Jacques in 1993, he was riding his bike more than two hours each way to minister to a church in the small fishing village of Caracol in the Northeast of Haiti. The lively group of believers was meeting under a brush arbor structure and dreaming of starting a school for the village children. With the help of God, LHM and other friends, Pastor Payot’s church is now thriving with a large church building, large school, clean water from a deep well, and ministering in the community to needy families, thereby sharing the Gospel not only in word, but in deed.
